PowerVar is Powerside’s comprehensive range of industrial-grade of low-voltage automatic capacitor and harmonic filter banks. These products are part of Powerside smart grid product solutions that automatically compensate for variations in loads, which cause the power factor and harmonics to fluctuate. For use in mid to large industrial and commercial environments, they’re designed rugged and built compact for central compensation loads and nominal voltages that range from 480V to 600V. Capacitor banks are available from 75 to 1200 kvar. The capacitors have a 4-fold patented safety system that has self-healing cells and an overpressure that disconnects in case of excessive internal pressure. These capacitors have screwless terminations for a maintenance-free, antivibration connection.
Harmonic filters are available in detuned and tuned configurations. The resonance frequency of the “de-tuned” configured filters is set to 3.78th to ensure resonance-free power factor compensation. These models come with durable, Class H insulated reactors to reduce the impact of harmonics and temperature sensors that deactivate in case of overloading.
