Engineering Program Manager

Position: Engineering Program Manager
Status: Full Time – based out of Alameda, CA
Report to: Vice President of Engineering

Overview:

Powerside is anticipating rapid growth, and we are creating the position of Engineering Program Manager who will be responsible for the managing, reporting, and delivery of engineering programs and products within the Monitoring business. The ideal candidate will have experience in engineering program management and product development and will report to the VP of Engineering Monitoring. This individual will work alongside the engineering team and with other departments/stakeholders (i.e. software, marketing, sales, operations, and quality) to ensure the timely and successful delivery of new and enhanced products of the highest quality.

The role you will play:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all engineering program stakeholders, providing updates on status, risks, and issues.
  • Define program objectives, scope, schedule, and deliverables in collaboration with engineering leadership and external departments.
  • Develop and maintain detailed program plans, ensuring all milestones are met according to schedule.
  • Track program progress and performance, identifying and resolving any roadblocks along the way.
  • Manage program budget and resources, adjusting as needed, to ensure efficient use of both.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams, including engineers, operations, product managers, and others, to complete assigned tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on assigned programs, providing guidance and support to team members as needed.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations on program status and findings to upper management and other key stakeholders.
  • Write and edit technical documentation related to assigned programs.
  • Conduct post-mortem analysis on completed programs to identify areas of improvement for future endeavors.
  • Stay up to date on latest industry trends and best practices, sharing knowledge with team members as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in program management within an engineering organization.
  • Proven track record of successful engineering program delivery.
  • Strong understanding of product development life cycles.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in engineering, business administration, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in program management within an engineering organization.
  • PMP or other program management certification.
  • Experience managing global engineering programs.
  • Thorough knowledge of MS Project or other program management software.
